Robbie's Run 1, 2, & 3


Log 09.17.11

Racked the 2 vats.  Vat 1 = Carboy 1 / Vat 2 = Carboy 3 / Mixed remains of Vat 1 & 2 to make Carboy 2.  Added water to the three carboys to top up and added 5 half teaspoons of Yeast Energizer to each carboy.  Yeast immediately reenergized.  Tried to take a hydrometer reading by it went under completely.

Log 09.12.11

Added 10 pounds of white sugar to each vat.  Left air lock off.

Log 09.01.11

Added 5 pounds white sugar to each vat.  Reduced must by about 5 pounds in each vat.

Log 08.31.11

both vats overrun with engorged grape hulls.  Had to take out about 20 – 30 lbs of must.  Will monitor very closely. Reduced must by about 20 pounds each.

added two Montrachet yeast packets to each vat.  Stirred each vat and resealed.

Log 08.28.11

Vat_2 crushed 33 pounds of fresh Muscadine grapes into container, added 5 gallons distilled water, and 8 campden tablets = 8 gallons of mast in container with airlock.

Vat_1 crushed 33 pounds of fresh Muscadine grapes into container, added 5 gallons distilled water, and 8 campden tablets = 8 gallons of mast in container with airlock.
